Knight Street Construction

Just in case if anyone missed the notice about the Knight Street Bridge repair, it has started last week from June 2nd until July 31th. I go to Richmond alot to workout at my gym. Usually the traffic isn’t too bad on a good weather, but when it rains, the traffic jam is really bad. I suggest everyone try to avoid driving down Knight Street, and try taking side streets all the way to Marine Dr, and take the Marine Dr entrance to Knight Street Bridge. It is alot faster, trust me =)

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – More construction headaches for drivers using Knight Street–you can expect construction delays on the Knight Street Bridge this summer, as repairs and seismic upgrading work begins on Monday, June 2nd.

TransLink has announced the first major overhaul of the bridge since it was built in 1974. Construction crews will reinforce the bridge piers and foundations, while southbound lanes of the Marine Drive overpass will be resurfaced and bridge deck joints will be replaced.

Most of the work will be done overnight, 10 pm to 5 am Monday to Friday, 10 pm to 8:30am Saturday and 10 pm to 8 am Sunday. The Marine Drive Overpass will be reduced to two southbound through lanes (from the present three) 24 hours per day until July 31st. Work is expected to be complete by mid-October.

There’s already a construction project underway at Knight St. and 49th to create much-needed left-turn lanes.
