Bringing Greater Vancouver together

Strawberry Cone

Have heard about this place and always wanted it out and I finally had the chance to do so recently.

Strawberry Cone: Japanese pizza and pasta. Japan isn’t famous for their pizza or pasta so it definitely got me curious as to how it would taste.

Located in Aberdeen Center in Richmond, Strawberry Cone is one of the first food joints when you approach the food court.

My friends and I ordered one pizza and two pastas. Overall, it wasn’t spectacular or great. The pasta was average. It tastes like what it looks like: regular pasta with few pieces of bacon and sauce. The pizza was decent. Maybe we should have ordered a pizza with more toppings…

I consider this experience to be something to cross off my “to-eat” list. Now to move onto the next place to eat.

Samba Brazilian Steakhouse

Had an opportunity to dine at Samba Brazilian Restaurant at Downtown yesterday. This is definitely a place to try out if you like all you can meat.

The restaurant is of a buffet style.  Brazilian Passadores (servers) carry roasted pork, veal, lamb, sausage, sirloan, buffalo and etc on a skewer and would approach you table and ask if you would like any. approach you table. Then they slice off a portion right in front of you. The “fresh” factor is definitely noticable. Obviously, everyone like their meat done to a different extent. I personally find some meat better than other.

In addition, they have live music and dance that adds to the atmosphere. There are girls dress in Sambo Brazilian costumes who would dance and entertain the guests periodically.

Parking on weekend is a big pain in downtown. Be prepared to be stuck in traffic on the weekends.

Prices vary from lunch to dinner and day of the week; Weekend/holiday dinners are $32 dollars for adults (Not including tax or tips). Make sure you check out their website for more information on menu and price.

Anton’s Pasta

Had an opportunity to eat at Anton’s Pasta Restaurant again so I thought I’ll write a post up for all those wanting to eat some massive amount of pasta…

Anton’s Pasta is known for its overly sized portions of Pasta. If you’re average size, you’re basically getting two-three meals for the price of $15.00 – $20.00 CAD. They don’t expect you to finish and are more than happy to help you pack your leftovers for you to go with. They used to give out a pen that serves as a bragging right that you’ve finished a plate in the restaurant. However, I don’t think they give out those pens anymore.

The picture above does not do any justice in terms of actual volume of pasta on the plate. There are a great variety of dishes on the menu. A variety of pasta and sauces offers much decision making when ordering. In the end, you’re going to eat most of it. Mind as well pick something very enjoyable otherwise you’re going to waste it.

*Warning* Be aware of the food intake you’re about to have when you’re eating at Antons. Pace yourself and don’t force it down. It can leave you bloated and feeling “fat” afterward. For health reasons, I suggest you take a bit home with you.

I DO NOT recommend going in huge parties. If you must, expect a long wait in front of the store. They do not take reservations and the waiting area in the store is quite small. Bring a jacket for those cold winter days while you’re waiting for a seat. Also, they will only seat you if everyone is present. For instance, if you have a party of 8 and only 7 people show up.. then expect to be left in the cold for a bit.

Anton’s take-out menu is great. The portions are not as big in my opinion but still decently sized.

There are plenty of free parking on the streets and a 2 hour free parking lot nearby.
