Summer Night Market 2008 (Richmond Night Market)

Posted by cvancouver on May 8, 2008

Just did a quick search on Google about Night Market…

Here is an insert from the Vancouver Sun:

“RICHMOND - The popular summer night market in Richmond is one step closer to reopening under a new operator after months of uncertainty over its fate,

Richmond city council agreed Monday evening to send an application for a two-year land-use permit to a public hearing after grilling the new operator, Paul Cheung, about how he would tackle the problems of counterfeit goods and traffic congestion at the market.

Cheung, a Vancouver entrepreneur with years of experience planning events for the Plaza of Nations, said he’s confident he can get a better and safer market up and running by May 30, if his plan succeeds at the public hearing scheduled for May 20.”

Granville Island

Posted by cvancouver on May 6, 2008

For those who like tourist destinations… then Granville Island is a must-stop-at destination in Metro Vancouver. Located under the Granville Bridge, Granville Island is a tourist hot-spot for food, shopping, hanging-out, and much much more.

There are several restaurants in the area: Sammy J Pepper, The Keg, and etc.

In addition, there are stores and shops for all ages. It is a neat place with something for everyone. Here is a giant ball rolling machine just like the one in front of Science World.

In addition, it always amazes me with what people come up with title names; here we have Moose droppings.

Every so often you would find street performers at Granville Island. Some do a pretty good job and others not so good. Nonetheless, they are street artists performing what they love and do best. Regardless, it is always entertaining to see what some street performers have thought of.

When we were heading out of Granville Island we saw some goose with baby goose on top of a roof. It made us wonder why it built a nest up there in the first place.

Here is the rest of the photos I took:

Kaskade @ Commodore Ballroom, May 18, 2008

Posted by yyu34 on May 4, 2008

Kaskade is going to be in town on May 18, 2008 performing at the Commodore Ballroom. I like highly recommend everyone to show up and enjoy his performance.

History of the American DJ and Record Producer:

Kaskade moved to Salt Lake City in 1992 to attend the University of Utah. During this time he owned and operated a local record store, Mechanized Records. In May 2000, Kaskade moved to San Francisco and began working as an A&R assistant for Om Records. Releasing his first single “What I Say” on the label in 2001.[1]

In The Moment saw Kaskade’s first top 10 single with “Steppin’ Out” reaching #5 on Billboard Magazine’s Hot Dance Club Play chart and #6 on Dance Radio Airplay.[2] The fourth single to be released from the album, “Everything,” reached #1 on Billboard Magazine’s Hot Dance Club Play.[2]

Kaskade’s fourth solo album Love Mysterious was released in September 2006. The first single from the album, “Be Still”, reached #4 on Billboard Magazine’s Hot Dance Club Play.[2] The single features vocalist Sunsun, and includes remixes by Jay-J and Robbie Rivera. Follow up single “Stars Align” hit number #8 on “Billboard Magazine” Hot Dance Airplay chart and just missed the top ten, #11, on the Hot Dance Club Play chart. His third single released from “Love Mysterious”, “Sorry”, was his third consecutive top ten hit on Billboard’s Hot Dance Airplay Chart, at #9. Dirty South provided a remix for “Sorry.” The remix has been nominated for a 2008 Grammy for Best Remixed Recording. Although it is still a myth, many people believe that he may have taken his name from the Detroit band the Kaskades. Who broke up in late 2006, due to creative differences with then drummer Adam Moody
