During my free times, I usually like to browse around on Flickr for pictures of Vancouver. I believe Vancouver is one of the most beautiful places in Canada, and most of us don’t really appreciate the great mother natures we have here in Vancouver.

This week’s feature of Flickr page is WAXY.’s photostream on Flickr. I am really impressed with his photography.

Fireworks at English Bay

Posted by cvancouver on March 2, 2008

For four days in a year, the sky at English Bay is filled with bright lights and exploring rockets. Millions of people flock to the beaches to watch the event. The entire beach is literally filled with audience. There are people who have to stand to watch the event because there is simply no more space to sit.

The commotion is the HSBC Celebration of Light. Since 1991, fireworks have been filling up the sky at English Bay. The dates for 2008 are as follow:

July 23 - Canada
July 26 - USA
July 30 - China
August 2 - Finale

At 10 pm (22:00), the fireworks begin regardless of rain or shine. This size of this event is so huge that police are mobilized and road blockades are in effect. To make matters worst, parking spots are limited and parking lots over charge. Nonetheless, many people take advantage of the public transit to get to and from the events.

If you are from out of town and want to come tour around Vancouver, this is one event you cannot miss. It is one of the events that makes Vancouver a world-class city.
